Just a heads up. Taking advice from an old acquaintance is always at your own risk. We shall not be responsible for any injury, accident or loss. Below’s winter to-do list will be updated frequently, after trial and error.
All it takes is a short drive to Canadian tire and you’re Gucci. You can do it anywhere and anytime! It’s great cardio, and also a great way to make a lot of Canadian friends quickly! If this is not really why you and your spouse have traveled all the way to Canada, go check out the next thing to do!
Happy times. Before actually shoveling all the snow. There was no after picture because we never got the job done.
What can we say? you’re in the epicenter of all ski areas. If you’re not boarding or skiing, then what are you doing here? Seriously, tell us what you are doing. There are a number of options regarding ski areas. The most popular ones are Sunshine and Lake Louise. But you’re living in Canmore so you can go to smaller places like Norquay and Nakiska or go basically anywhere if you have done your avalanche training (for your own convenience).
Ice skating. It’s also slang for the thrift shop. Might be your best 15 dollars ever spent. Are 3 inches of ice safe to walk on? Make sure you’ve got a rope and never go alone. If you do go alone and happen to fall through the ice, A 5-sec google taught us to kick your legs until they’re horizontal and then pull yourself forward until you get your body more onto the ice. If you’re riding and falling, don’t read any further. You are living the dream.
Since you’re too injured to go either snowboarding or ice-skating, ice fishing is one of those unique experiences your friends have never done and will probably never do in their lives. Trick a local to tell you the right fishing spots or this can be the most time-consuming sport you’ll ever do. (Don’t think you’ll be lucky). Only keep reading if you’re a millionaire.
DOG SLEDDING
If you truly want to impress that girl or friend and the sky is your limit, dogsledding might be something for you! They only go out when it’s 1 degree warmer than -25, so don’t worry about any of the cold. Some people snowboard for a whole season, some go on a 2-hour sledding tour. All jokes aside, it doesn’t get more Canadian than this. Who doesn’t fancy going on a dog sledding tour? It sure has been a life long dream of ours!
We’ll keep on adding nice things to do during winter around Canmore.
